Il Primo Binghamton Get-Away Update: April 7

Hello fellow Get-Away Members,

First things first, have you tried il Primo Ristorante yet? Secondly, after seeing some weird stuff falling from the sky today, I think we all hit the jackpot on having this Get-Away to escape the poor Ottawa conditions. Yes some golf courses are open here already, and yes you can play them through Executive Golf already, but what a treat it will be to step out on Conklin and Hiawatha.

The main thing to take from this email is that the rallying point Friday April 17th morning, at 5:30am will now be the Fairlawn Plaza. (not Pinecrest Mall)

Here is the info:

  • Fairlawn Plaza
  • 2148 Carling Avenue, Ottawa
  • Across from Carlingwood Mall (at Woodroffe)
  • Has the Canadian Tire/Shoppers Drug Mart/Independent Grocers there

The bus will be parked in the lot, close to the Carling Avenue.

Feel free to get dropped off, leave your car, taxi there… just so long as you’re there for 5:30am… bus leaves @ 5:45am. Here’s the tricky part… I need you to reply to this email to confirm you are aware of the new location. Sorry to do this, but it is best to be prepared!

I’m going to send out another email within a few days showing the room list, and the golf groupings for all three days. For your reference we tee off at noon on Friday, and 10am both Saturday and Sunday. Last chance to sign up for the Slammer Tour events because they are closing registration this week. Let me know if you need help regarding this.

Other than that, I’m looking forward to a great weekend, and I’m here if you have questions/comments/concerns.

Thanks,
Andy and the EG Team.

Il Primo Binghamton Get-Away Update: March 17

Hello again Bingo Participants!

T minus 1 month until we set off. There is 42 registered, so we’re still looking for 2 more. Let me know!

Regarding rooming, the trip is based on double occupancy unless otherwise stated at registration. I’m doing the rooming list, and if you didn’t sign up with a specified rooming partner, let me know if there is someone on the list (above) that you don’t want to be roomed with and I will allocate the rooms accordingly. This information will be classified so no worries; I want everyone to be happy with their roomie!

I need to touch base regarding format again. Everyone’s default is the social format unless they’re signed up @ slammertour.com. If you want to play in this format but aren’t registered, let me know and I’ll set you up with an account and show you how to register.

If you are coming with a person playing social format, but you want to play Slammer format in the same group, this is possible. Just make a comment on the Slammer registration page, and we will lock a social person into your group. This will work out nicely. I promise.

Other than that, we’re gathering up some nice prizes for the trip right now. Feel free to pass along any suggestions if you know someone who likes to provide prizes in exchange for advertising.

Look at this Bird’s eye view of Conklin….sweeeeet!

Il Primo Binghamton Get-Away Update: March 4

How’s this for a
closest-to-the-pin hole?

Should be interesting!!!
Last year, Lee Zomer was just inches away from a hole-in-one!

Six weeks left until bus departure. The forecast is calling for some warm weather the rest of the week so hopefully we can get some swings in prior to the great links down south. A few notes in order to help get organized…

There will be two choices for golf format for the weekend

  • Option 1 is Competitive (Slammer Tour) Format. If you would like to play some competitive (yet fun) golf, but aren’t sure what The Slammer Tour is, please let me know or call Darcy at 613-274-7393 and we’d be happy to explain. You’ll need to pre-register on slammertour.com, and you can find more information about the Tour here as well. If you are interested in playing Slammer Tour format, but are coming with people who want to play the social format, let me know and I’ll try and make the arrangements.
  • Option 2 is Social format. If you’re not playing Slammer Tour, you’re basically playing this one. It doesn’t require you to do anything special, you’ll just play your normal game and have a grand ol’ time. I’ll figure out the scoring and at the end of the day, and you’ll get some great prizes!

Pack lightly please!

Last year we had 43 people on the bus, and everything fit perfectly, so perfect in fact that we wouldn’t have been able to squeeze more on. This year, we aim to have 44 on the bus, so here are some things that are necessary to ensure comfort for you and for everyone else.

  • the smaller the golf bag the better (not the PGA style ones)
  • 1 suitcase per person (obviously the smaller the better, but no worries if all you have is big)
  • 1 small bag that will fit in an overhead compartment (if needed)

Isn’t that easy? Nothing too hard… Last year there were bags for golf shoes (maybe you can squeeze these in your golf bag, or overhead bag?) and carry on bags plus additional bags etc… keep it simple since there is a lot of movement in and out of the bus.

On this note, I’ll like to remind you that we head straight to the course, so show up at Pinecrest Mall ready for some golf, and just throw off the jacket when we get down there!

I don’t want to bore you with too many details so I’ll keep # 3 short and sweet!

Are you a photographer?

If anyone is interested in taking some high quality pictures during the trip, let me know and we’ll set you up with a free game of golf through Executive Golf. You will be designated as the official photographer of the trip, and it is essential that the photos be top notch quality.

That’s it for now. Let the countdown begin and let's hope for sunny weather in six weeks.

Cheers,
Andrew Rajhathy

Il Primo Binghamton Get-Away Update: February 28

Hello Bingo Participants!!!

This is the first of a few emails that I will be sending prior to our trip. Although there is still about 7 weeks to go before we head for the links, I thought I would send a friendly email to let you know that you are in fact confirmed for the trip. You can check out your name, along with the other participants above.

The Il Primo Binghamton Getaway was a great success last year, and we hope to make it even better this year. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding, well, anything! I’d be happy to answer. I know Darcy probably already mentioned this upon your registration, but please verify you have either a valid passport, or a valid driver’s licence and birth certificate. If you are denied to cross the border, the bus continues on without you. (Last year it was a breeze, but knock on wood for this year)

A little fact about Il Primo Ristorante:

Located on Preston Street, it is honestly one of my favorite restaurants. I have eaten there many times, and the service and food quality is always top notch. Craig Pederson (owner) and Glenn Davies (manager) will be attending the trip, and expect that everyone will have a great time.

What’s even better? Executive Golf Members receive 20% off on food there! If you’re not a member, go anyways for some great Italian food, and even better Red Wine! (hahaha, I like the red)

Only 12 spots left on the trip, so if you’re looking to lock in your buddies, make sure they do so in the next few days!

Cheers,
Andrew Rajhathy
